The Goblet is an individual competition held over eleven months, January to November. All match-pointed pairs events other than first Tuesdays or Club Championships count towards this (see Programme). On each evening, both players of each pair finishing above halfway score 1 point for each pair they beat, less 1 point for each pair they lose to.   So if there are (say) 26 pairs, the winners score 25 points each, the second pair 23 points (24 minus 1) and so on down to one point for the two players finishing 13th. The competition is designed to encourage members to mix and play with different partners. It is therefore based on a member's best ten scores, but no more than two scores count with any one partner.  A member playing with a non-member is still eligible to score points.

EBU Master Points:   Awarded at District level to members finishing in the top eight positions.

Prizes:   Awarded to members finishing in the top five positions:   1st - £30,   2nd - £25,   3rd - £20,   4th - £15,   5th - £10
