The Memorial Bowl is an individual competition held over the twelve months, September to August. All pairs events other than those held on first Thursdays or Club Championships count towards this (see Current Programme). This competition is designed to encourage members to mix and play with different partners. It is therefore based on a member's best twelve performances, but no more than two count with any one partner. A member playing with a non-member is still eligible to score points.
Scoring is by "Selsdon Competition Points (SCPs)". On each evening 100 SCPs are available, 50 for position and 50 for percentage. 50 position points are given to the pair finishing first, reducing proportionately down to 0 for a pair finishing exactly half way. Two and a half percentage points are earned for each 1% of score above 50%, up to a maximum of 50 points for 70% or more. In a "Butler scored" competition, five-sixths of a "percentage" point is earned for each IMP above 0 up to a maximum of 50 points for +60 IMPs or better.
